In January 1999, I set up a webcam (with the help of my friend Chuck) to take snapshots of the activity outside my apartment to share to the world. My web server got hundreds of thousands of hit and I was flooded with email from all over the world. The picture on the left is just a stock picture of the Pope.. the picture on the right however was captured by the PopeCam. Even though I was only taking a picture every 15 seconds I still managed to get a picture of the Pope as he darted by about 50 mph (I thought his driver would have drove a little slower :)).
